NNI Volunteer of the Month - April, 2009

Russ Gresham

Russ Gresham’s circle of life began in Parkville, then to the Navy, then to Norfolk, Virginia, then to Olathe, Kansas and, finally, back to the Northland’s Chaumiere Neighborhood. Russ and his wife Alice have 6 children and 6 grandchildren, and they stay very involved in their lives.

Russ does not suffer from boredom. He has volunteered for the Navy, and goes to the VA hospital to visit with patients. These days, he manages the tool library for the Chaumiere Neighborhood Association, plies his woodworking skills on handmade wood ball point pens, and dabbles in photography. Other interests include geoneology, cooking and gardening. The tool library volunteer job includes maintaining the tools, handling tool rentals within the neighborhood, generally making sure that tools are safe, clean and running correctly. Hey, Russ, what do you do in your spare time?

Russ says volunteering keeps him active, connected to the community and involved in his neighborhood. For him, involvement means attending all the Chaumiere neighborhood meetings and volunteering for cleanups and other neighborhood activities. Volunteers like Russ keep our neighborhoods strong and vibrant.
