Town Hall Meeting With Mayor Funkhouser
Kansas City, Missouri Mayor Mark Funkhouser will hold another of his series of Town Hall meetings on July 1 at Northland Neighborhoods, Inc., 3015 NE Vivion Road. Mayor Funkhouser will give his views on happenings at City Hall, and will answer questions from those in attendance.
The Meeting begins at 6:30 p.m.
Recycling Centers Closed For Holiday
The Kansas City Community Recycling Centers will be closed on Friday, July 3 and Saturday, July 4 in observance of Independence Day. This includes Metro North, 3 Trails and Deramus Community Recycling Centers. The regular hours of operation for the Community Recycling Centers are Wednesday through Saturday, 9:00 AM - 5:00 PM and will resume on Wednesday, July 8.
Bulky Item Pickup Appointments

City mowing operations are under way
The growing season is in full swing and the City of Kansas City, Mo., has begun its scheduled mowing and cleaning of more than 3,500 acres of property across the City. Mowing operations will continue through the end of the growing season in October. Scheduled mowing operations will take place at City-owned properties, including right-of-ways, boulevards and parkways, parks, building grounds and City-owned vacant lots. Frequency of mowing depends on the area. Questions regarding City mowing programs should be directed to the 3-1-1 Action Center, at (816) 513-1313.
Hospice Residence Progresses in the Northland

Temporary Closure of Northwest Tiffany Springs Road
The City of Kansas City, Mo., Public Works Department is alerting motorists that Northwest Tiffany Springs Road, from North Amity Avenue to Tiffany Hills Park will be closed for construction starting May 26, at 8 a.m. It is expected to remain closed until late fall 2009. During this closure, motorists traveling to Tiffany Hills Park and the Springs Aquatic Center will have access from North Congress Avenue. Detours will use North Amity Avenue, North Congress Avenue and MO Hwy 152.
Free paint available for eligible City homeowners
This program provides free high-quality exterior paint to homeowners in the City of Kansas City, Missouri, who meet eligibility criteria. Eligible homeowners must complete an application to receive paint, primer, caulking and other supplies. Homeowners must make all necessary repairs and properly prepare their houses for painting prior to receiving their supplies. Fee Increase for Alarm Renewals
The Board of Police Commissioners approved a fee increase for alarm renewals in their meeting on Tuesday April 28, 2009. Alarm renewal fees have gone from $35 per alarm to $40 per alarm beginning May 1, 2009. The fee for new alarm permits has not changed, it is still a $45 one-time fee. Any residence or business who has an alarm system that is monitored by an alarm company needs to have a valid permit on file with the Kansas City Police Department Private Alarm Section. KCMO Emergency Home Repair Program to start accepting applications May 4
Eligible Kansas City, Mo., homeowners who are in urgent need of roofing, plumbing, electrical and mechanical work can apply for the City of Kansas City, Mo., Emergency Home Repair Program. Applications will be accepted starting May 4th, and are available online (http://www.kcmo.org/neigh), or at the new Housing and Community Development Department's Property Preservation Division office on the 11th floor of City Hall, 414 E. 12th Street.
