Changes in Animal Control coverage at NNI

Due to turnover of Animal Control Officers, the officer formerly based at NNI is covering a larger territory and will no longer have an office at NNI. This change involves no reduction in Animal Control services. Officer Robert Shafford is still available by phone (816-335-5524) or  e-mail at Robert.shafford@kcmo.org. Officer Shafford is available to meet with citizens or groups at NNI. Just contact him to set a date and time.

Loan Program Aavailable to Residents Facing Foreclosure

The Department of Housing and Urban Development, in partnership with NeighborWorks America, has launched the Emergency Homeowners' Loan Program (EHLP) to assist many homeowners across the nation who are at risk of foreclosure, including those eligible in Kansas and Missouri. Eligible homeowners can qualify for an interest-free loan that pays a portion of their monthly mortgage for up to two years, or up to $50,000, whichever comes first. The pre-application deadline is July 22. Neighborhood Open Forum Offers a New Opportunity

Northland Neighborhoods, Inc. is sponsoring a new regular meeting every fourth Tuesday of the even numbered months. Called the Neighborhood Open Forum, the meeting will give participants an opportunity to brainstorm solutions in small groups and then share the solutions with the larger group. Topics for future sessions will be selected by participants with a likely focus on topics noted in the neighborhood leader interviews conducted by NNI’s Neighborhood Relations Committee over the past year. The topic for the February session will be community involvement.

Vacant and Foreclosing Property Registration is Required with the City

The City of Kansas City, Mo., is issuing a reminder to owners of vacant and foreclosing property located in the City in an effort to let them know they must renew or establish registration of these properties with the City's Neighborhood and Community Services Department on an annual basis. Online registration is available at http://www.kcmo.org/vacant. Registration forms can be downloaded and submitted by mail or in person. The City of Kansas City, Mo., is issuing a reminder to owners of rental dwellings located in the City in an effort to let them know they must renew or establish registration of their rental properties with the City's Neighborhood and Community Services Department on an annual basis. City fund to help water customers pay water and sewer bills

The City of Kansas City, Mo., Water Services Department has established a fund to help qualifying Kansas City, Mo., water customers pay water and sewer bills. Emergency Assistance Available for City of Kansas City, Missouri Residents

Kansas City, Missouri residents who have experienced a sudden loss of income through reduction in work hours or layoff and are currently looking for work, may be eligible for assistance with utility and living expenses through the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development's Emergency Shelter Grant Program. More information on this assistance is available on the City's website...
