Executive Committee

The Executive Committee oversees strategic planning for the organization. It recruits and evaluates Chief Executive Officer. The Chair of the Executive Committee (the Board President) appoints committee chairs and the committee annually determines committee assignments, subject to approval by the Board.

Meets as needed, but at least quarterly.

Administration and Finance

The Administration and Finance Committee oversees financial and accounting systems and monitors financial performance. It reviews the annual budget and makes budget recommendation to the full Board. The committee reviews the annual audit and monitors the audit process. It reviews policies, procedures for the risk of fraud, and bylaws and makes appropriate recommendations to the full Board or the NNI membership. The committee oversees facilities planning and board development programs.

Meets third Wednesday at 5 p.m. at least quarterly

Governmental Affairs

The Governmental Affairs Committee develops and maintains positive relationships with municipal, county, state and federal governments, and regional planning agencies. It reviews new program initiatives with governmental units. The committee advocates with elected and appointed officials on issues important to NNI. It reviews non-candidate ballot issues and recommends endorsement/non-endorsement to Board. The committee advises the Chief Executive Officer on key strategies for improved governmental relations.

Meets 3nd Friday at Noon. Does not meet in December.

Neighborhood Relations

The Neighborhood Relations Committee coordinates advocacy for neighborhood issues and projects, including neighborhood PIAC requests. It monitors and evaluates the EXCEL Neighborhood Leadership Program and other neighborhood education programs. The committee builds positive relationships with Northland neighborhood organizations. It evaluates and recommends new neighborhood programs. The committee monitors and evaluates community policing programs, including Night Out Against Crime (crime prevention) and Safe Trick or Treat (child safety). It monitors and evaluates NNI’s FOCUS Center performance. The committee monitors and evaluates NNI senior service programs.

Planning and Development

The Planning and Development Committee reviews and monitors NNI’s home repair, rehab and new-infill housing programs. It reviews Northland residential and commercial development plans and projects sponsored or co-sponsored by NNI. The committee reviews Northland development plans to assure conformity with the FOCUS KC Master Plan and area/corridor plans. It monitors Northland PIAC, TIF, G.O. Bond and other capital improvements programs. The committee coordinates joint planning in cases where projects overlap multiple jurisdictions.

Meets first Wednesday, even months only, 4 p.m.

Resource Development

The Resource Development Committee monitors and evaluates the Stakeholder Campaign, grants, and fundraising events. It oversees marketing, communications, public relations and volunteer policies and programs.

It meets monthly, third Monday, 5:00 p.m.
